Is the Outpatient Treatment Program for Substance Abuse in Rhode Island meant of everyone?

June 21st, 2008

The outpatient treatment program in Rhode Island has become quite popular in today’s times, and not without reason. People who are participating in this program can continue staying in their own homes and still get the treatment that they are looking for. Also, the procedures employed in this treatment program are mild and that is why they are likeable to patients.

But it is very important to remember that not all people will be allowed an outpatient addiction treatment in Rhode Island. There are several rules and restrictions that govern a person’s eligibility for getting on with this form of treatment. The following points apply.

1. In most cases, people who have already been through a detox treatment program in Rhode Island will be recommended to join an outpatient treatment program after their detoxification treatment. The scope here is on teaching methods to the patients so that they should not succumb to a relapse. Measures such as spiritual teaching, faith-based healing, meditation and relaxation techniques are also employed.
2. People who have not been through any other form of drug addiction treatment in Rhode Island are also allowed this form of treatment. These people will likely have mild addictions that can be easily treated through outpatient methods.
3. People who have complete control over their mental faculties and those who have no health complications yet can qualify for outpatient treatment. The patient’s mind must be resolute enough to stay away from the addiction.
4. People who have families to look after treatment will also qualify for outpatient treatment.
