South Dakota Prevention Network-Fighting Drug Addiction and Alcohol Addiction

The South Dakota Prevention Network is aimed at routing out the drug and alcohol addiction problem from the state through guidance and counseling. This government body is a part of the Department of Human Services of South Dakota and is instrumental in devising various plans for working with specific groups in the eradication of substance abuse in South Dakota.
These are mainly prevention programs that try to counsel people of South Dakota before the problem actually takes a larger proportion. The program chooses to counsel and guide not only the vulnerable people but also the families, friends, schools, offices and other social groups where these people may be associated. The main purpose of the organization is to try and create awareness of the problems of alcohol addiction and drug addiction in South Dakota so that fewer people would fall victim to these problems, and in case they do fall victims, where they must go for finding the right kind of treatment solutions.
There are various programs running within this one main umbrella theme, such as preventions for drug abuse and alcohol abuse in South Dakota schools, prevention on a community basis, creating awareness in the community for seeking preventions from the problems, programs for diversion of vulnerable people to more constructive activities and many others in the same vein. The objectives of these programs are to mobilize and educate people that they can stay away from drugs and alcohol if they made a sincere effort for it and understood the consequences of falling victims to such vices.
