Crystal Meth Addiction-Much more Dangerous than it seems on the Surface

Crystal meth, or methamphetamine, is one of the most addictive substances in the world today. This relatively new drug is rapidly becoming a global problem.
What’s more dangerous about meth drug abuse is that people generally prefer to use it when they are in groups. The drug is a very popular club drug, perhaps the most popularly used in rave parties today. The main reason for its popular usage is that it produces a very strong feeling of euphoria. This feeling, known as the meth high, can take a person away from themselves and make them do things that they generally would not do.Most meth addicts will indulge in unsafe sex, which is easily accessible to them because the drug is used by groups of people together. The high caused by crystal meth is so overbearing that the person will be totally regardless of things like protection and risk an HIV infection due to that.
Crystal meth is very commonly used in gay clubs, especially in the US. This is a growing concern because of the high vulnerability to AIDS that it can create in this segment of people, from where it can spread to other segments of people too. Statistics put the figure of meth addiction in gay and bisexual men at about 33%, which is a highly alarming figure.
Even within the mainstream population (including the gay and bisexual communities), there are 12 million people walking the face of the earth who have used crystal meth at least once in their lifetime. 60,000 people are still actively using crystal meth. With these figures, it is easy to understand why crystal meth addiction is not as simple an issue as it seems to be on the surface.
