Pulling your Friends out of Meth Addiction and Heroin Addiction

April 30th, 2008

Times are very dire, in terms of the availability and actual usage of drugs in the world around us. Many a time, people find someone they know get into a drugging habit.

Heroin addictions have ruled the roost for a long time now, right from the age of the Baby Boomers, but lately another addiction, the methamphetamine addiction is gaining wide currency. People using both these drugs are putting their lives at stake. These drugs have a very high addictive value which only grows with passing time, as the body becomes more and more immune to the drug. Also, both these drugs can cause a vast array of health disorders, including fatal heart attacks. That is why when you see a friend getting into any of these habits, you must take steps to pull them out of it. Your timely action may actually save your friend’s life.

What can you do? First and foremost, you must speak with the parents of your friend about the habit if they are still responsible for him or her. There is all likelihood that the parents don’t know about their child’s habits, and your prompting them may make them take some constructive action.

If your friend has no parents, or if the parents live in another town, then you can take the required action yourself. Call up the drug addiction cell in your local hospital and tell them of the problem. These people will intervene in the addiction and will train you on how to deal with your friend’s problem. These interventionists will be with you every step of the way as you embark on protecting your friend’s life.

The most important thing is that you must take action soon. Remember that a drug addiction is a point of no return. Without treatment, no one has come out of it alive.
