Myths about Drug Rehabilitation Program

April 22nd, 2008

Drug rehabilitation programs are often seen in a negative light. People fall to the myths that surround the drug rehabilitation program and the idea that surrounds it.

Because of these myths, they feel as if drug rehabilitation programs are pointless; they feel as if they won’t work, and would be a gigantic waste of time. This is incredibly unfortunate, however, as drug rehabilitation programs are often incredibly helpful. One of the first major myths that surround drug rehabilitation programs is that they don’t work; when people see celebrities who come in and out of rehab consistently feel as if drug rehabilitation programs are pointless. They feel as if going through any drug rehabilitation programs would be a complete waste of time. The important thing for those individuals to realize, however, is that drug rehabilitation programs do work for many individuals out there who are serious about rehab and are not using drug rehabilitation programs as a form of PR.

Another major myth that people believe when thinking about any drug rehabilitation programs is the fact that going through rehab is seen as a weakness. Many do not realize that drug addiction are incredibly hard to “kick” on their own; drug issues need things like drug rehabilitation programs to help people get over the hump and take the first major step to help. People should never be made to feel inferior or smaller simply because they’ve taken the steps to help themselves.
