Methamphetamine addiction can be difficult to conquer.  Addiction treatment for meth users does not need to be specific, but it is often more time consuming than that over other drug addictions.

Meth addicts require more time in treatment because of the damage the use of the drug causes to a person’s thinking, behavior and physical functions. The reason that meth users have such a high relapse rate, is simply because they don not receive care for long enough. When meth abusers are given access to programs and therapies for a period of at least six months they have more likelihood of recovery then those who received treatment for less than six months. Studies have shown that time is an essential part of successfully treating individuals with a meth addiction.Unfortunately, many health insurance companies have shortened the length that an addict can stay in treatment to a mere and inadequate two weeks. It is of general professional opinion that most meth addicts need at least a minimum of thirty days inpatient treatment, so they can successfully detox and have a clear enough head for therapy to be effective. Inpatient therapy is usually followed by an outpatients program that is designed by the addicts treatment program to help support them after they leave residential treatment. It is essential that people dealing with a meth addiction seek help and speak with a counselor to determine funding options available for proper treatment. Often, these individuals have resources and contacts that can help ensure and addict receives an adequate amount of treatment for successful.
